But, it turns out, that you can’t just send anything you want. Some items are prohibited by law, while others are restricted by the courier company’s policies. 

 

Here are some examples of items that you should not send through a courier service in Australia:

 

Dangerous goods

You can’t send the following dangerous goods by standard courier in Australia:-

  • Toxic or infectious substances
  • Explosives

Illegal Goods

You cannot send illegal goods through a courier. These include:-

  • Drugs
  • Weapons
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Stolen property

If someone discovers you are sending these goods, it may result in fines or criminal charges. Always check with relevant authorities before sending particular goods. 

 

Valuable Goods

Couriers will also not ship valuable parcels including:-

  • Artwork
  • Jewellery
  • Cash
  • Some antiques

Insurance may not cover these if lost or stolen during transport
